Built in 1925 as a private residence in Palm Springs, Calif., the Ingleside Inn offers intimate accommodations and views of the nearby San Jacinto Mountains. Serving patrons from US presidents to movie stars, the Inn was named in 1990 as an official Palm Springs Historical Landmark. The Inn is totally secluded but only steps away from downtown Palm Springs, including shopping, the Desert Museum and the Palm Springs Airport. A two-hour hour drive east of LA, Palm Springs was once famous as a winter retreat for Hollywood stars. Today, it's the home of retirees, 10,000 swimming pools, 85 golf courses and hundreds of plastic surgeons.
